Installation Responsibility
By purchasing and installing any BioShieldUV product, users accept sole responsibility for the following obligations. These are not optional recommendations — they are essential safety requirements.
- Hiring licensed professionals — All installation work involving HVAC modification and/or electrical connections must be performed by licensed, insured professionals in your jurisdiction.
- Ensuring code compliance — Installation must meet all applicable local, state, and federal building codes, electrical codes (NEC), and HVAC standards.
- Obtaining required permits — It is the user's responsibility to determine whether permits are required for HVAC or electrical modifications in their jurisdiction and to obtain them prior to installation.
- Verifying electrical compatibility — Before connecting any BioShieldUV product, the user must verify that their electrical supply (voltage, amperage, circuit capacity) is compatible with the product's specifications.
⚠ Do Not Self-Install Electrical Components
Under no circumstances should untrained individuals attempt to wire or connect UV-C equipment to their electrical system. Improper electrical connections can cause fire, electrocution, equipment damage, and void warranties on both the BioShieldUV product and your HVAC system.

BioShieldUV takes a firm position regarding health-related claims. While UV-C technology has been studied in various scientific contexts, BioShieldUV makes no claims regarding the following:

Risk Assumption
By purchasing, installing, or using any BioShieldUV product, users acknowledge and assume all risks associated with UV-C technology. These risks include, but are not limited to:
Electrical Shock
Improper wiring, faulty connections, or working with live circuits can cause electrical shock ranging from minor injury to fatal electrocution. Always disconnect power before servicing.
UV-C Exposure to Skin & Eyes
Direct or reflected UV-C light can cause severe burns to skin and corneal damage (photokeratitis) to eyes. Never look directly at UV-C bulbs when powered on. Wear appropriate PPE when servicing.
Fire Hazards
Incorrect electrical installation, overloaded circuits, or incompatible wiring can create fire hazards. Always use properly rated circuits and follow NEC guidelines.
Ozone Exposure
Certain UV-C wavelengths can generate ozone, which at elevated concentrations may cause respiratory irritation. Ensure adequate ventilation and verify your product operates at ozone-free wavelengths (254nm).
Assumption of Risk Statement
By using BioShieldUV products, you expressly acknowledge that you have been informed of these risks and voluntarily assume full responsibility for any injury, damage, or loss that may result from the purchase, installation, operation, or maintenance of our products.
Section 6
Indemnification
By purchasing, installing, or using any BioShieldUV product, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless BioShieldUV Inc., its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or related to:
- Personal injury — Including but not limited to electrical shock, UV-C burns, eye damage, respiratory issues from ozone, or any other bodily harm resulting from product use or installation.
- Property damage — Including damage to your home, building, electrical system, or any third-party property arising from installation or operation of our products.
- HVAC system damage — Including damage to your heating, ventilation, or air conditioning equipment, ductwork, coils, or related components.
- Professional service costs — Including costs for electricians, HVAC technicians, engineers, or other professionals needed to correct improper installations or address product-related issues.
⚠ Scope of Hold-Harmless
This indemnification clause applies whether the damage or injury occurs during installation, operation, maintenance, or removal of BioShieldUV products. It applies regardless of whether the user followed or disregarded any guidance provided by BioShieldUV.
Section 7
Liability Limits
IN NO EVENT shall BioShieldUV Inc.'s total liability exceed the original purchase price paid for the product.
This maximum liability cap applies to all claims arising from product use, installation, operation, or any interaction with BioShieldUV products or services, regardless of the legal theory under which liability is asserted.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, BioShieldUV Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
Excluded Damages
- Loss of income or revenue
- Loss of use of equipment
- Cost of substitute products or services
- Business interruption
- Consequential property damage
Maximum Recovery
- Total liability capped at purchase price
- Applies to all claims collectively, not per-claim
- Covers all legal theories (contract, tort, negligence)
- Effective from date of purchase
- Applies regardless of remedy's essential purpose
Purchase Price = Maximum Liability
The maximum amount BioShieldUV may ever owe you, under any circumstance and for any reason, is a refund of the purchase price you paid for the specific product at issue. This limitation applies even if BioShieldUV has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, BioShieldUV's liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law. For complete terms, see our Terms of Service.
