Read this before you install anything you bought from us. It explains what our instructions are, what they are not, and who is responsible for what.
We are a product manufacturer and retailer. Everything we provide — guides, videos, diagrams, drawings, and anything our support team tells you — is general educational information about our products. It is not electrical, structural, engineering, HVAC, medical or legal advice, and it is not an assessment of your specific site, system or building.
We are not licensed to provide electrical work, HVAC work, structural or mechanical engineering assessments, or medical advice. Where your installation involves any of those, it must be done by a licensed, insured professional in your jurisdiction.
In no event does BioShieldUV Inc. have responsibility for, control over, charge of, or liability for the means, methods, techniques, sequences or procedures of installation, or for safety precautions in connection with it. Those are the responsibility of the owner, the contractor and the installer.
Every site differs — the construction and condition of attachment points, the local building and safety code, and local practice. Our installation guidance describes ideal conditions, and there is no ideal installation in real life. Our hardware and tools are supplied as building material; they do not constitute the specific or final installation hardware for your site.
Following our instructions does not by itself constitute proper installation. You and your installer must make the final on-site determination of the means and methods appropriate for your installation. There is no substitute for consulting a local licensed contractor, architect, engineer or code inspector.
Our responsibility is to provide complete, correct materials, and we keep sending what you need until your order is right. We do not cover installer labour costs — lost time, emergency site visits, rescheduling fees, or hourly rates where work cannot be completed. Arrangements with your installer are between you and your installer.
Almost every lost-time claim we see comes from a crew arriving at a site having never opened a box. That is preventable, and the preparation step above is how it is prevented. To protect yourself: require pre-installation verification as part of your installer's quote, and make the installer responsible for confirming they have everything before installation day.
If you disagree with how we have applied this policy, tell us — we will look at it. This policy does not affect any right you have under applicable law.
Installing and using these products carries real risk. Depending on the product, that can include electric shock, falls, cuts, burns, fire from incorrect or overloaded wiring, and failure of an improperly installed system. Disconnect power before servicing anything electrical, use properly rated circuits, and wear appropriate protective equipment.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BioShieldUV Inc., its officers, directors, employees and agents against claims arising from your installation or use of our products — including personal injury, property damage, damage to your building systems, and the cost of professional services needed to correct an installation. This does not extend to claims arising from our own negligence or from incorrect information we supplied.
For economic loss — lost income, loss of use, substitute goods, business interruption, and consequential property damage — our total liability is limited to the purchase price you paid for the product at issue. This limit does not apply to claims for personal injury, and nothing in this policy limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions; where that is so, our liability is limited to the maximum extent the law permits.
Do not self-install electrical components. Untrained individuals should never attempt to wire or connect UV-C equipment to an electrical system. Improper connections can cause fire, electrocution and equipment damage, and can void the warranty on both our product and your HVAC system. The SL18-HVAC system must be installed by a licensed electrician or qualified HVAC professional.
Installation must comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable HVAC standards, and you must verify that your electrical supply — voltage, amperage, circuit capacity — matches the product's specifications before connecting anything.
UV-C specific risks:
Health and disease claims. BioShieldUV products are not medical devices and have not been evaluated by the FDA. We make no claim that they prevent, treat or cure any disease, illness or infection, and no claim about health outcomes. What we provide is UV-C light products designed for HVAC coil surface treatment, intended to help reduce biological buildup on those surfaces. References to UV-C research are educational context and do not imply our products deliver equivalent results.
